I don’t know about you but my life brings me so many distractions. Those distractions come in the form of finances, work, stress, and so much more. Each distraction, if not dealt with, has the potential to rob us of so much. My distractions have a way of robbing me of time and energy that can be spent doing more productive things. My most recent distractions have been coming up during my prayer time first thing in the morning. I’ve noticed that I’ve been more distracted by paying bills, checking NCAA tournament scores and social media, updating my planning calendar, and daydreaming during the time that I intended to be conversing with God. I have had to really bare down to focus in my more intimate time with God these last couple of weeks, which hasn’t been easy, but worth it.
Does it make us bad people when we get distracted? Of course not, the enemy is always hard at work looking distract some of God’s best warriors. If you are not coming under some kind of attack by the enemy, it could be a cause for concern. What we need to do determine in our mind that we won’t let the enemy defeat us. We have to remember that we already have the victory over the enemy. Once we learn to channel that, we can overcome anything and everything the enemy throws our way.
The first step is to become aware. You can’t begin the change things you are not aware of. The last few weeks the Holy Spirit began speaking to me about dropping distractions and focusing more of my time with him. After I heard him speak to me, I decided to listen up and take charge over my thoughts and actions. I’m determined to no longer let the enemy attack my time with God. The next step is tapping into you inner power (the Holy Spirit) to shut out the enemy. When I become aware of my distractions, I call on the Holy Spirit to allow me to focus and cast out the enemy. At that point the enemy will have no choice but to flee. Are you being distracted by things in your life? How are they stopping your from becoming all that God has called you to be? I would really love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
A girl of fire
